Jun. 24th, 2010 07:00 pmI bought Chaos Rings from the iTunes App Store because I was curious what a native iOS RPG from Square would be like, and I promised iphiro that when I played it, I’d make at least one screenshot post so they could see, too. This is that screenshot post.
Behold, the title screen.
Around here I decided to stop using the built-in capture feature of the Sims 2 and start using the built-in capture feature of Mac OS 10.6. It’s a little more involved than just hitting C during the game (F10 to make the menus vanish, Command+Shift+4, spacebar, click on the window, F10 to bring the menus back), but if everything’s ready and the game is paused, there’s really no excuse when the result is guaranteed to be higher res, if nothing else.
There’s probably a better way to do it than that. Hence the test legacy: I can try out anything I want to, whenever I want to.

I had meant to enlarge these to 640×480 with SmillaEnlarger, but unfortunately, the enlarged versions looked absolutely terrible. Anyway, this “legacy” is really just for testing things out, so I suppose figuring out how to screenshot nicely is part of the testing process. Also, I am lazy.
Our test founder, Babette Ehrengard, got her name from Anecdotes of Destiny and Ehrengard, which is right behind us, cleverly disguising a stack of thin cd cases. Includes the short story Babette’s Feast, it says, so… there you have it. Babette, rhymes with rabbit, I guess, but you can call her babe-ette and I won’t care! Even her appearance was completely generated by the CAS randomizer, because I was lazy and this is a test.
Anyway, on to the terrible screenshots.

It's available in 720p HD and blocked in Germany, because Sony Music Entertainment hates Germany or something.
"Believer" was actually finished May 6th, just in time for The Triumphant Return of GOS From Beyond The Grave, but I've been sitting on the completed video for ten days. So it's a bit late, but better late than never.
Pooked Zecutime Cityside Sofas & Loveseats

Yes, that's right. Pooked furniture.
Basically, I was annoyed with the color selection for the Zecutime Cityside Sofa, and the matching loveseats, and at the same time, I was recoloring and binning some very old Rose hair. When I took a look at the Maxis textures for the sofa, I thought the yellowish leather sofa looked a little like Volatile, so tried out one of

There are no frame recolors, because I discovered that got very unmanageable with how many colors there are: 9 naturals, 15 customs/neons, for a total of 24 sofa colors.

Known issues: I noticed some doubling in my game, where recolors show up twice for both the sofas and the loveseats when I have both sofa and loveseat recolors installed; this is probably because they both use the same base textures. You'll likely only need to download for the sofas or the loveseats to get both sofas and loveseats recolored; but just in case I have that wrong, all four packages of the recolors are up for download.
